Cookie Policy
Effective Date: February 21, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Waterfall Planning, LLC ("Waterfall Planning," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our financial planning website and related services (the "Service"). This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give website operators information about how their site is being used. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services that the website uses ("third-party cookies").
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies (Required)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. They include:
- Session Cookies: Maintain your logged-in state as you navigate between pages. These expire when you close your browser or after a period of inactivity.
- CSRF Tokens: Protect against cross-site request forgery attacks by verifying that form submissions originate from the Service. These are security cookies required for safe operation of the site.
- Cookie Consent Preference: Stores your cookie preference selection so we do not show you the consent banner on every visit.
2.2 Security Cookies (Required)
These cookies are used by third-party security services to protect the Service from automated abuse:
- hCAPTCHA Cookies: Set by hCAPTCHA (Intuition Machines, Inc.) during registration and login to verify that you are a human user and prevent bot activity. These cookies are governed by hCAPTCHA's Privacy Policy.
2.3 Analytics Cookies (Optional)
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve functionality and user experience. Analytics cookies are only enabled with your explicit consent. They include:
- Usage Analytics: Track which pages are visited, how long users spend on different features, and general usage patterns. This data is collected in aggregated form and is not used to personally identify you.
You can enable or disable analytics cookies at any time through the cookie consent banner or by managing your preferences as described in Section 4 below. Declining analytics cookies does not affect core Service functionality.
2.4 Marketing Cookies (Optional)
These cookies are used by third-party advertising platforms to help us show relevant advertisements to people who have previously visited our website. Marketing cookies are only enabled with your explicit consent. They include:
- Google Ads Remarketing: Set by Google to build audience segments of website visitors so we can show relevant ads on Google Search, YouTube, and partner sites. Google operates in consent mode, meaning no cookies are stored unless you grant marketing cookie consent. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can enable or disable marketing cookies at any time through the cookie consent banner or by managing your preferences as described in Section 4 below. Declining marketing cookies does not affect core Service functionality. When marketing cookies are declined, advertising platforms may still collect anonymized, aggregated data through consent mode but will not store cookies on your device or use your data for personalized advertising.
3. Cookies We Do NOT Use
To be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not use cookies to build profiles of your browsing behavior across other websites beyond the limited remarketing described in Section 2.4 above.
- We do not sell data collected through cookies to any third party.
- We do not use cookies to access or store your financial planning data.
4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for managing cookies:
- Consent Banner: When you first visit the Service, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to "Accept All" cookies, select "Essential Only," or "Customize" your preferences. Your choice is saved so the banner does not reappear on subsequent visits.
- Browser Settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to block or delete cookies, or to alert you when a cookie is being set. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning properly, including the ability to log in.
- Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. The Service does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals, but we limit our use of cookies to those described in this policy regardless.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Third-party cookies used on the Service include hCAPTCHA cookies as described in Section 2.2 above and, with your explicit consent, Google Ads remarketing cookies as described in Section 2.4. We do not allow any other third parties to set cookies through the Service. If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and seek your consent where required.
6. Data Collected Through Cookies
Information collected through cookies is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Essential and security cookies do not collect personal information beyond what is necessary for their stated purpose (maintaining your session and preventing abuse). Analytics cookies, when enabled, collect aggregated usage data that is not linked to your personal identity.
7. Your Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and other applicable state privacy laws, you have the right to opt out of non-essential cookies. You can exercise this right by selecting "Essential Only" in our consent banner, adjusting your browser settings, or by submitting a request through our Do Not Sell My Personal Information page. For more information about your privacy rights, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on the Service with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
